He says it is a good children's book as well as a basic scientific explanation as to why we (ahem) pass gas.The pictures are wonderfully drawn and the story line is simple, but very scientific. Did he enjoy it. Yes.he loved it a lot. The title of the book catches your attention right away. I highly recommend purchasing this book, whether it is for a child, a gift, or (as in my case) a practical joke gift. I bought this book for a college professor who had (and no kidding here) given us a short lecture about farts and how/why we produce them. So does the elephant behind on the front (and yes, when you flip the book over, the front of the elephant is there as well). So after his lecture, I though of this book (which I had seen in a store before) and decided that I had to get it for him.
Once they understand why it happens, and that it's a natural thing they share with every living creature on earth - they kind of lose interest in the mischief of doing it on purpose. For anyone who is worried that it'll encourage more farting-for-fun by your kids - rest assured. Highly recommend it. We've been reading this book to our kids since they were old enough to listen, and from Day 1 they've been fascinated with it. Lots of opportunities for the grown-up reader to inject sound effects, and plenty of adorable pix that make it truly enjoyable to learn about the stinkiest thing most living creatures do.
A must buy for your kid. I even enjoy reading the book to my baby girl. This book is interesting and educational. The author make the whole science of "FART" in a simple way that a preschooler can understand.
My 1 1/2 yr old loves "Everyone Poops" and I thought this was similar but it's completely different, better for a 6 or 7 yr old. The only thing is it's really for an older child that can read books that are kind of long and understand more complicated concepts and words. This is a cute book to explain a "tabu" topic to your kids. it's funny, but biological and matter of fact.
There is one image of nudity, with two people passing gas in a bathtub, and a little boy is shown from the front. Another My Body Science book in the spirit of Everyone Poops. The humor is mildly rude so I don't recommend leaving this within arm's reach if your children are in the habit of asking company for a read-aloud. Parents who object to the word "fart" can easily fill in a more polite alternative, except for the "fartheewell" ending. It's more descriptive and explanatory, though, meaning it fits the 4-8 crowd better than 0-4. I have boys, but I presumably all small children are entertained by flatulence; this book capitalizes on this by providing humorous images of animals and people passing gas, while giving an introduction to the digestive process that produces it.
